Charismas Classic Vanilla Cake. This cake recipe came from afternoons spent in Charisma’s sunny kitchen, where the sweet scent of vanilla filled the air and laughter was just as essential as the butter. Simple yet elegant, it’s a family favorite that’s perfect for birthdays, tea time, or any moment worth celebrating.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 ¾ cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk (room temperature)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round pans.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition, then mix in the vanilla.
- Mix in the dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the dry mix.
- Pour batter into pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting or serving.
